CMT United Kingdom has been in existence since 1986, and is the UK’s only national charity for people living with Charcot Marie Tooth disease. It is a membership organisation, and currently supports over 1300 paying members, plus thousands more through social media.
We offer assistance, information and support to people living with CMT, their families and medical professionals. We do this through a telephone support helpline, by email, a website, our active on-line communities (through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and a magazine (ComMenT).
The CMT Kids network works specifically with young people with CMT, and our Youth Development Officer organises activities.
We work to promote research into CMT, and fund research where we can. We are partners of the Inherited Neuropathy Consortium – a worldwide network of researchers and clinicians working to find a cure or treatment for CMT. CMT United Kingdom is also a member of the Neurological Alliance and the Genetic Alliance UK.
