“Together against CMT”
2nd European Charcot-Marie-Tooth Specialists Conference
23-25 October 2025, Stadscampus University of Antwerp

The European CMT Research Association (ECRA), European CMT Federation (ECMTF) and University of Antwerp will organize the 2nd European CMT Specialist Conference in Antwerp, Belgium from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 October 2025.
Given the rapid advances in the CMT research field, the congress will be an ECRA initiative complementing the CMTR special interest group within the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS), an international organization of physicians and scientists working together to develop and provide the best treatments for people who have peripheral nerve diseases. The 2nd European CMT Specialist Conference is expected to attract approximately 150 clinicians and scientists. The program will consist of two full days of platform and poster sessions with emphasis on enhancing networking.
All aspects of CMT, as an inherited neuromuscular disease, will be covered: from basic science to genetic diagnosis and clinical management, therapy development, clinical outcome measures and clinical trials, as well as technical aspects like data sharing and AI.
A main priority for the meeting is mentorship and development of junior scientists and clinicians. To that end, part of the money raised to support the Conference is used for fellowships for junior attendees as has been done in the past.
We hope to welcome you all for this inspiring event!
The three cornerstones of CMT advanced research…

SCIENTISTS
Scientists in biology / genetics & medicine

CLINICAL RESEARCHERS
Medical specialists with expertise in neurological disorders working in applied research.

other health professionals
Physicians & Therapists providing feed-back and data to researchers

Webinar Series
In preparation for the Conference, a series of webinar will take place.
The first one, scheduled on May, 5th, saw advocacy group leaders and ECMTF board members, Filippo Genovese, Alexander Hoyau, and Ingolf Pernice telling their story and how important the active role of patients’ is.
The second webinar, held by Dr. Davide Pareyson and moderate by our President, focused on the challenges that researchers and patients face while coping with Charcot-Marie-Tooth.
In the third webinar “Key Insights from the 2025 PNS Congress in Edinburgh” the European CMT Federation and ECRA decoded the key takeaways from the 2025 Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS) Annual Meeting. This session offered a dual perspective on the latest in peripheral neuropathy research, bridging the gap between scientific discovery and patient reality.
